Short: Cloanto Personal Paint 7 Demo Software
Uploader: info@cloanto.com (Cloanto)
Author: info@cloanto.com (Cloanto)
Type: biz/cloan
Distribution: Only Cloanto, Aminet and Aminet CD-ROM
INTRODUCTION
This archive contains a demonstration version of Personal Paint 7. The
software has no functional limitations, except for a pattern of "DEMO"
symbols which appears over the image when saving and printing. For obvious
space reasons, this version is not representative of the I/O modules (most
formats are missing here, in part due to licensing restrictions), Rexx
scripts, artwork and documentation included with the commercial package.
USER INTERFACE LANGUAGES OTHER THAN ENGLISH
By default, Personal Paint 7 tries to run in the system default language.
This demonstration archive contains only the English user interface file
("PPaint_Prefs/UIText.eng"). Additional languages are stored in separate
"PPUIText_...88" archives, also in the "biz/cloan" directory on Aminet
(please note the version number: Personal Paint 7.0 requires version 88 of
the user interface files). To install a new program language, just drop
its file in the "PPaint_Prefs" directory.
HARD DISK INSTALLATION
To install Personal Paint 7 to hard disk, simply move the entire drawer
contained in the archive to the desired location. Assigning "PPAINT:" to
the installation drawer is useful for the system to find the Default
Tools, if used by artwork files, but is not strictly required by Personal
Paint. To fit on a single floppy disk, the software was compressed with
Imploder. After hard disk installation, it is possible to decompress the
software so that it loads faster (and using less memory). If, for example,
the software is installed in "Work:PPaint", decompression can be performed
from the Shell as follows:
CD Work:PPaint
Deplode PPaint
FLOPPY DISK INSTALLATION
To install Personal Paint 7 to an Amiga floppy disk, format a disk
(without creating a "Trashcan" in it), name it "PPaint", and copy the
contents of the drawer (not the drawer itself) contained in this archive
to the disk. For example, to install Personal Paint from "RAM:PPaint" to
drive 0 ("DF0:"), type the following from the Shell:
Delete DF0:#? ALL
Copy RAM:PPaint/#? DF0: ALL CLONE
OVERVIEW OF NEW FEATURES
Personal Paint 7 has more than 100 new features, including:
- New and improved file formats, including Photo CD (licensed by Kodak),
GIF (licensed by Unisys), BMP (Windows and OS/2), JPEG (not a DataType
any more), 24-bit DataTypes and PBM
- Professional Internet features like GIF animations, a map editor, and
everything needed to achieve maximum image quality in a compact
size
- Enhanced user interface (pop-up gadgets, different sizes of user
interface fonts, NewIcons thumbnails, etc.)
- 182 Rexx commands, with scripts directly accessible from the tool bar
- New "plug-in" library system makes it possible to add input/output
formats (for files, scanners, screens, etc.) and to replace critical
Amiga blitter and CPU code with a combination of "virtual blitter" and
other logic fully exploiting the different configurations (68040,
Phase 5 PowerPC, etc.)
- Automatically create directory thumbnails for entire directories
- Advanced vector text functions (rotate, antialias, paths, animate,
etc.)
- CD-ROM edition includes: developer documentation, reorganized manuals
(no addenda - all in the right place), tutorial animations, extended
artwork.
